Emery High School seniors Kacelyn and Kinlee Toomer signed National Letters of Intent Wednesday to play basketball for Utah State University Eastern and head coach Chelsey Warburton next season.

Kacelyn, a 5-foot-10 guard, was a 3A All-State First Team selection as a junior. Averaging 12-points, four rebounds and three steals in 23 games in 2017-18, Toomer was a key instrument in the team’s championship season.

“As I’ve grown up and got to watch them and Lainee (Jensen) play, I feel like it’s a good fit for me,” said Kacelyn when asked why she chose USU Eastern. “I think it’s going to be an amazing experience to play for both coach Chelsey and Morgan Warburton. I know they’ll teach more about the game and make me better.”

Kinlee Toomer, 5-foot-8 guard, garnered a 3A All-State Second Team selection as a junior in 2017-18. Playing in all 25 games for the Lady Spartans she averaged ten points, six assists and three steals per tilt. Offensively Kinlee scored a season best 20 points on two separate occasions.

“I’m really excited that my family will be able to watch me play. That was a big factor in deciding where to go,” said Kinlee. “It was a must for my sister and I to play together, so we planned on this for a while now.”

Kacelyn and Kinlee represent two of four returning starters from last year’s 3A State Championship team. Senior center Megan Jensen also signed a Letter of Intent Wednesday night, committing to play for Utah Valley University next season.
