The Emery Spartans went on the road Friday night in hopes of walking out being tied with Richfield, but the Wildcats had other ideas. Emery led by one at the half and even outscored Richfield in the fourth quarter but it was too little too late. The Spartans late game push came up short as did their efforts to gain ground in the Region 15 standings.  They now find themselves looking up at Manti, Richfield and South Sevier  with five games left before tournament play.

Cade Brazier followed up his 27 point effort on Wednesday with 23 points, 18 of  which came from behind the three point line. Brax Jensen added 14 points and Brodie Tuttle had 8. The Spartans also went 12-of-15 from the free throw line. Emery  jumped out early in the first quarter, but once things settled down , Richfield took over down the stretch in a game that saw Emery fighting till the end.

The Wildcats were led by Payton Thompson with 18 point and Joshua Thalman with 17, Emmit Hafen added 11 in a well rounded effort by the team. Richfield now sits at 11-6 and 6-2 in region as they get ready for Grand (13-4, 4-4 in region).

Emery (12-5, 4-4 in region) on the other hand look to rebound on Wednesday January 30th, when they go on the road for a  game in Manti (14-4, 5-3 in region), tip-off  is set for 7pm.
