Despite holding a three-point in the final ten seconds of regulation, the Emery Spartans suffered an 85-76 loss to the Manti Templars on the road Wednesday night.

Carrying a six-point advantage into the second half, the Spartans led throughout the third and fourth quarters. Following a missed free throw with 11 seconds remaining on the clock, the Spartans allowed Manti’s Adam Huff to hit a deep-three to send the game to overtime.

Manti took control of the contest in the extra period outscoring Emery 16-7, earning a season-series split in the process.

In defeat Emery senior Kyson Stilson poured in a game-high 42 points, marking his third 40-plus performance this season. Brax Jensen finished with 12, while Cade Brazier chipped in with seven.

Huff paced the Templars with a team-best 28 points, nine of which came from beyond the three-point line. Travis Thomson controlled the offense with 19 points, while sophomore Grady Thompson added 15.

Wednesday’s loss dips Emery to 4-5 in Region 15 play, while Manti improves to 7-3. While the Templars remain in contention for the league title with Richfield and South Sevier, the Spartans are now entrenched in a battle with Grand and San Juan for fourth.
