The Carbon Lady Dinos opened the 2019 golf season with a Region 14 win at the Mountain View Golf Course Wednesday afternoon in West Jordan.

Dealing with heavy rain and frigid temperatures, the Lady Dinos managed to outpoint Providence Hall by eight strokes on their home course. Union finished in third with a 516, followed by Juab in fourth at 525.

“My girls played very well in completely miserable conditions with the rain and cold,” said head coach Kenji Otani. “Nothing is water proof after four hours. I am very proud of my girls and their perseverance.”

Junior Jordan Bianco led the way for the Lady Dinos with a team low 92. Sam King tallied a 102, followed by Aubrey Fausett’s 103. The fourth score came from Kirsten Etzel who finished out the day with a 109. Jessica Hansen and Rhiannon Timmons both competed, but had scores outside the team’s top four.

With the season’s opening meet now in the books, Carbon will continue the season next week at Sleepy Ridge, the home site of Maeser Prep. The group will participate in a total of seven meets ahead of the State Championship on May 7 and 8.

Below are the complete team scores from competing squads:
