Carbon baseball took to the field in Helper on Friday and came away with a region win, 10-0 in six innings. Scoring four runs in each of the first two innings the Dinos collected their sitxh straight Region 14 win.

On the mound Braxton Bennett proved almost untouchable going four innings and giving up just one hit while striking out five. Nate Richens came in and went 1 2/3 innings and proved to be just as dominant striking out three and allowing no hits. Carbon’s defense was on display as well, not allowing a runner past first base.

Offensively  Keaton Rich, Nick Olson, Collin Lewis and Ty Anderson each scored two runs in the contest. Jon Zamantakis also had one hit and two RBI’s. In the first two innings Carbon batted through the entire lineup, and kept up the pace throughout the game, ending it early in six innings.

Carbon came out looking to put this game away early after almost dropping their game in Delta on April 2. The Dinos came out on top 8-6 but the game should have never been that close. Delta has yet to win a region game this season and currently sit at 0-6 in Region 14 play and 2-10 overall.

The Dinos sit atop the conference standings at 6-0 after a preseason that helped to get them prepared for the region portion of their schedule.

Next up is the Union Cougars on Tuesday at Gardener Field in Helper. Union is 3-2 in region play and 9-8 overall. The game is set for a 3:30 start and make sure you tune in to KOAL 107.3 FM and 750 AM for coverage starting at 3:00 with the Landon’s Diesel Pregame show.
