The Carbon Dino and Emery Spartan softball squads met up Tuesday with Emery coming out on top 9-8. In the highly competitive non-region contest played in Castle Dale, the Dinos came up just short in the seventh inning.

The game was fairly quiet in the early going with both teams finding their offense in the third frame. Carbon would go on to add another run in the fourth and would lead 7-5 in the middle of the fifth, but then allowed Emery to score four in the bottom half of the inning. The Dinos scored one run in the top of the seventh but that would be as close as it would get.

For the Dinos, Kaytlyn Cripps takes the loss on the mound. Going just over two innings, she gave up four hits with five runs (two earned) and two strike outs. Rounding out the rotation for Carbon, Brooke Moosman went two innings as well with five hits, four runs all earned and Tenley Madsen went one inning. Offensively for the Dinos, Cripps had four hits with two runs and four RBI’s. Senior Dekota Kraushaar and sophomore Bryton Kimber added two hits with two runs each. Aditional runs were scored by Clarissa Noyes and Cora Luke.

On the mound for Emery Kaylee Price gets the win, going four innings allowing eight hitsand five runs all earned, while striking out three. Also contributing to the victory Kaejha Johnson gave up two hits and two runs and Braileigh Clark goes two innings giving up three hits and one run. On the offensive side Autumn Stilson had the hot bat going three-for-three with one run and three RBI’s in the contest. Bailey Huggard added two runs and an RBI. Taleigh Price added two runs with with two hits and and two RBI’s as well. Runs were also added by Ambree Bennett, Madisyn Alton, Cambrie Jensen and Raegan Rasmussen.

The two teams will meet up again on May 2 in Price.

Emery now climbs to 10-7 overall and 4-4 in Region 15. They will take the field again Wednesday as the will face the North Sanpete Hawks in Mount Pleasant. Game time is set for 3:30.

Carbon sits at 10-8 overall and 3-1 in Region 14, they will play again on Thursday as they will face the Juab Wasps in Nephi.
