PRICE – Seven USU Eastern Softball players earned All-Region awards on Wednesday at the 2019 Region XVIII Tournament held in Taylorsville.

Sophomore Avery Blackhurst was named to the All-Region first team as an outfielder. In 2019 Blackhurst batted .341 with 47 hits, 23 RBIs, 10 doubles, and two home runs while starting almost every game in the outfield.

For the second year in a row pitcher Carlye Levy was named second team All-Region on Wednesday.

Levy led the Eagles in wins, starts, innings pitched, strikeouts and ERA in 2019. She finished the year with 74 strikeouts, 10 wins and 12 complete games.

Joining Levy on the second team was sophomores Taylor Passarella and McKenzie Dorney.

Passarella was a mainstay behind home plate while also starting a couple games in the infield for the Eagles in 2019. At the plate Passarella batted .263 with 13 RBIs, 26 hits, and two home runs.

Dorney played in all but one game for the Eagles in 2019 and batted .305 with seven doubles, 39 hits, 28 RBIs, and five home runs. On defense she played in the middle infield and had a .922 fielding percentage with 73 assists and nine double plays.

Sophomores Jaiden Smith, Rilee Stookey, and Ashley Sweat each were named Honorable Mention All-Region as well on Wednesday.

Sweat batted .352 with 43 hits, 24 RBIs, six doubles, and four home runs in 2019 while playing multiple positions in the field.

Smith led USU Eastern in home runs (9) and RBIs (30) while batting .345 and playing in the outfield.

Stookey led the Eagles in stolen bases with 28 and while batting .349 with a team-highs in both triples (4) and hits (52).

USU Eastern Softball continues their chase for Region XVIII Tournament title in Taylorsville today with a win or go home battle against Snow College at 1:30 p.m.
