The Castle Country area has seen warmer temperatures in recent weeks which brings out individuals young and old to enjoy the weather. It’s definitely that time of year where all drivers need to operate their vehicles carefully by being alert and aware of their surroundings while driving through various neighborhoods in the community.

“I’ve been getting a lot of complaints in the Westwood area for speeders – had one this weekend a young driver was almost t-boned by a person driving at an excessive speed on Westwood Boulevard. I can’t emphasize enough we need to watch our speed, especially in that neighborhood. We are beefing up our patrols there. But I want people to be more conscious of their speed in the neighborhoods, not just Westwood but everywhere,” stated Sheriff Jeff Wood. The speed trailer is currently having software issues but when those get resolved the trailer will be set up in the Westwood area to alert drivers of their speed.

Graduation for local high schools is just right around the corner and parents are encouraged to speak with their graduates about celebrating in a safe manner. “Graduation is coming and you know that law enforcement’s stance on graduation is we want the kids to have a good time, we want them to celebrate all of their accomplishments but we want them to be responsible and abide the law. Make sure they are following the law,” said Sheriff Wood. Parents are strongly encouraged to often check on their child to keep them on their toes and by doing so their child is more inclined to be giving truthful information about their plans.
