PRICE – Utah State Eastern Athletics announces that the student-athletes from the 2018-2019 school year have attained a 3.28 GPA.

That GPA was the average from both Fall and Spring semesters in 2018-2019.

“I am extremely pleased with the progress that the student-athletes have made this year academically. We have a great organization in place with a academic advisor that has helped them stay on track and has gone above and beyond to help the succeed,” said USU Eastern Interim Athletic Director Scott Madsen.

USU Eastern Athletics Academic Advisor Jaycie Miller says the student-athletes helping each other have made a big difference in the academics during the school year.

“The students that recognize how important academics are have started to help the other student-athletes out and helping their teams with homework, classes, and study hall,” said Miller

On average USU Eastern student-athletes are required to complete three to five hours a week of study hall depending on their course load and individual GPAs.

At last month’s USU Eastern Commencement, 38 student-athletes were members of the graduating class of 2019.

There are seven NJCAA sanctioned sports that call USU Eastern home, those sports are Baseball, Softball, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, Men’s Soccer and Women’s Soccer.

Later this summer the NJCAA will announce Academic All-Americans and team awards which should feature a handful of student-athletes from USU Eastern.
