The Habitat for Humanity organization is seeking applications for the A Brush with Kindness program.

“Right now, we are accepting applications for our A Brush with Kindness program and that is an exterior home repair program where we help people fix the things on the outside home that they otherwise might not be able to get to,” said Executive Director, Janessa Marinos. A Brush with Kindness program serves low-income homeowners, elderly, disabled and veterans.

Eligibility is based on the need, ability to pay, and willingness to partner with Habitat. “We want to help them increase the safety of their home and I think when our house is safer and it looks nicer, we have a little more pride in our house. Habitat will help them get all of the materials if the homeowner can get volunteers, we help with volunteers as well and then they pay us back for the materials over a no interest two-year loan,” stated Marinos. Zero-interest payments made by the partner family for the cost of the project are placed into a revolving fund to help future A Brush with Kindness families in need.

Habitat for Humanity is always looking for volunteers to help out with these home repair projects. They welcome all ages, skill levels, and group sizes. For more information on the Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush with Kindness program visit their website at http://habitatcastlecountry.org/ or call (435) 637-9701.
