The Emery Spartan volleyball team traveled to Richfield on Tuesday to take on the Wildcats. After a hard fought match, the Spartans fell in five sets 3-2.

Emery has dropped their first four region matches this season bringing their overall record to 5-8. The initial RPI rankings for volleyball will be available on Thursday September 19 , and those will give us a better idea of the Spartans standings statewide.

The Wildcats (14-2 overall and 3-1 in region) won the first two sets 25-16 and 25-9. Then it was Emery’s turn winning the next two 25-23 and 26-24, Richfield would come back and win the final set 15-11. It was a battle as both teams fought back and forth but in the end the Wildcats were just too much for the Spartans.

Up next for Emery is a trip to Monroe to take on the South Sevier Rams (6-8, 1-3). With only seven matches left in the season, there is still plenty of time for Emery to make some noise in region 12.

The next time you can catch the Lady Spartans at home will be September 26 against Grand. Emery fell to the Red Devils back on September 5, 3-1 in Moab.

The match is scheduled to begin at 6:30, in the Spartan Center.
