It’s the beginning of the early rifle deer season hunt and Carbon County Sheriff Jeff Wood spoke about some hunting safety tips to remember while out in the backcountry.

“Just want to remind everybody to be safe and careful, don’t keep loaded guns in your vehicles, don’t point your gun at anything that you aren’t willing to destroy or pay for and just be safe out there, make sure you are in the right area that you should be in – your tag matches the area you’re in for your hunting,” said Sheriff Wood. Hunters that are hunting on private property need to be sure that they have written permission with them from the landowner at all times as they are hunting.

There is a cold front that is making its way towards the Castle Country area and this could put a damper on things. “You know make sure you are prepared for that as you’re out in the field, up in the high country, make sure that you have plenty of supplies and warm clothes. Cold front is coming but also high winds are coming and I’ve noticed a lot of folks have the cool, I have them, blowup Halloween décor, I would bring that stuff in today,” explained Sheriff Wood. Another item for some homeowners to worry about is their trampolines, please make sure those are secure as well.
