The Carbon Lady Dinos Soccer team began play in the 3A State Championship Tournament on Wednesday. Their first opponent was a familiar one from within their own region, the San Juan Broncos.

In both regular season meetings the Dinos would outscore San Juan by  a combined 17-1. On Wednesday they would be just as dominant in defeating the Broncos 4-0.

Senior Grace Broadbear would score one for her 35th goal on the season, while freshman Kacie Brady would add one also. Junior Ryan Brady continued her great season scoring the other two.

Freshman Emma Flemet would register another shutout between the pipes with five saves.

Up next for the Dinos will be the Juab Wasps. Carbon entered the tournament as the No. 5 seed with an overall record of 13-3 and 9-1 in region play. Juab holds the No. 4 seed with a record of 13-4 and 10-2 in region play. They defeated Summit Academy in their first playoff game to advance.

The match will begin at 1:00 on Saturday the 19th.
