Gallery Untitled presents Superhero Self Portrait Exhibit

The Gallery Untitled is excited to be hosting a Superhero Self Portrait Exhibit on December 6 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, December 7 from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm and December 9 from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This display will feature unique drawings from Carbon School District Third Grade Students.

“The way it works is I make the Superhero Self Portrait project with the third graders throughout the district. So I go around to every single school and we work on this, it’s about five days per class that we work on this. So they do about six hours’ worth of work on each of these projects and there are over 260 of them throughout the district and we will be showing all of them at this Superhero Self Portrait,” said Sarah Feik. This is more than 1500 hours of creativity done by local students.

The exhibit showcases how the young artists each developed their own superheroes. “We talked about, what are your superhero’s powers going to be? Like if you could do anything, what would want to be able to do? And that kind of thing and then they build on that and they get to decide what their costume is going to look like, what their background is going to look like, they get to decide all of that and then they write a paper about it as well and it’s really kind of neat to look at,” said Feik. The imagination that the students have is unbelievable and remarkable when put into a portrait. This is a perfect concept to get the children excited about language arts.

“They will be displayed at Gallery Untitled on December 6th, 7th and December 9th it will be during the light parade on Friday and Saturday, a little bit longer hours on Saturday. Then on the following Monday if people don’t want to be down there same times as the crowds and things it will give them an opportunity on Monday to come see it as well,” said Feik. Everyone in the community is invited to attend this exhibition at Gallery Untitled which is located at 76 South Main Street in Helper.
