The Emery Lady Spartans took to the floor in Castle Dale on Tuesday night to face the San Juan Broncos. Emery, fresh off the overtime loss to No. 4 Richfield last week, put that game in the rear view mirror and got down to business taking out the Broncos 64-48.

San Juan who had lost five of their last six heading into the match-up with Emery are ranked No. 11 by the Utah High School Activities Association’s RPI. Sitting currently at 9-8 with three games left in the regular season.

The Spartans jumped out to a seven point lead in the first quarter but the Broncos had cut the deficit to three heading into the locker room at half time. Emery came out in the third quarter and put San Juan away outscoring them 23-11.

Leading the way for the Spartans was Baylee Jacobson with 14 points and two rebounds. Hailey Allred and Kiri Cook would match each others lines with 13 point and six rebounds each.

Emery is ranked No. 6 at 10-8. With three games left they will face two of the top five teams in the state, starting Thursday with Carbon. Back on January 9, The Dinos escaped the Spartan Center with the one point 39-38 victory, and we can expect more of the same when the Spartans travel to Price. After that they will be in Monroe on February 4 to take on No. 1 ranked South Sevier. Back on January 21 the Rams traveled to Castle Dale and left with a 66-50 victory. They will then wrap up the season on February 6 as they welcome the Grand County Red Devils.

The Thursday night game against the Dinos will be broadcast on KRPX 95.3 The Peak, it can also be streamed at castlecountryradio.com or by using the KRPX app.

Pre-game starts at 6:30 and tip-off is scheduled for 7.
