The Notre Dame Oktoberfest – Celebrating our Centennial will be held on September 30 and October 1 at the Notre Dame Hope Center at 185 South Carbon Avenue. The entire community is invited to attend this fun gathering.
The church is celebrating its Centennial and they started their celebration in June 2022. “We started on June 20, 2022 with an opening mass and everything. We are celebrating for the entire year, and then we’ll wrap it up with another mass on June 20, 2023. So everything this year is based upon the 100th year,” said Event Representative, Elaine Carrillo. This year’s Oktoberfest will be the greatest festivity the church has had because it is the church’s centennial celebration.
The festivity kicks off on Friday, September 30 at 4:00 pm inside the Hope Center. “So the doors open up at 4:00 pm. Of course, we have sausage, kielbasas, hamburgers and hot dogs. But then we have our smothered burrito dinner from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Then of course we have those games of opportunity from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, or the adult games you can call it,” stated Carrillo. There will be many tables set up for dining and the opportunity games. Also, take-out will be available for those who are unable to stay to enjoy the dinner and games.
“So on Saturday we open at 11:00 am. We do have the kid’s games this year; we brought those back because we did not do them last year. So, the kid’s games will be outside from 12:00 pm till 5:00 pm. We have adult supervision; we have bouncers and those types of things. So it’s a lot of fun for the kids,” said Carrillo. There will be available again sausage, kielbasas, hamburgers and hot dogs to enjoy. The evening’s lasagna dinner will take place from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and is being cooked by Sam Farlaino. The opportunity games will run from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with a break for church and will resume at 7:00 pm till 10:00 pm. Winners for the opportunity drawings and silent auction will be announced towards the end of the night.
