USU-Eastern sophomores Philip Winston and Brandon Sly were both honored with second-team Scenic West Athletic Conference selections for their outstanding play during the 2015-2016 season.

Sly, a 5-foot-10 point guard from Riverton, led the team in scoring with 15.9 points per contest. Averaging 34 minutes per game, Sly also handed out 4.2 assists and 4.5 rebounds during his second season with the team.

Winston posted similar numbers throughout the season finishing with 15.1 points per contest to go along with 5.8 assists and 4.4 rebounds. The 6-foot sophomore from Lakewood, Wash., also posted a triple-double in his final contest at the B-DAC on Feb. 20. Other season highlights included a game winning three-point shot against Southern Idaho in double-overtime on Feb. 11.

The two sophomores were the driving force behind the Golden Eagles throughout the season as the team was plagued with depth issues. Throughout conference play the two guards averaged nearly 40 minutes per contest.

Fellow sophomore Solomon Rolls-Tyson and freshman Tevin Farris both received an honorable mention for their contributing play. Farris, 6-foot-7 forward, averaged 10.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Rolls-Tyson, a sophomore from England, finished with an average of 12.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

The Golden Eagles finished the season with an 18-13 record, including a 5-10 mark in conference play. The season came to close on Thursday following a 103-87 setback to Snow College in the first round of the conference tournament.
