Playing four games in two days the Carbon Dinos returned home still in search of their  first victory of season after multiple close calls at the Pizza Hut Classic in St. George.

Starting the weekend tournament off against Dixie, the Dinos captured a 1-0 lead in the top half of the first inning. One run from Dixie in the bottom half of the inning and two more in the second gave the Flyers a lead that would stand throughout the remainder of the contest.

Cole Fossat pitched two innings giving up one earned run, three hits and striking out one batter. Austin Henry pitched three innings of relief work, allowing only one hit. Despite an outstanding pitching performance, run support plagued Carbon in the first loss of the weekend.

Jayden Flemmett and Triton Abeyta both registered one RBI and Fossat knocked a triple. As a team Carbon managed only four hits and left a total of six base runners stranded.

Just hours later the Dinos took the field once again, this time suffering a 13-9 setback at the hands of Tooele.

Tied 5-5 entering the fourth inning, Carbon scored four runs to take a comfortable 9-5 lead. The very next inning Tooele scored five runs and put the game out of reach with three more in the sixth inning.

Once again struggling to find offense at the plate, the Dinos left an astonishing 17 runners on base in the high scoring affair. Fossat led the offense with four RBI, registering three hits in four at bats, including two doubles.

Chase Morgan, Anthony Maclean and Zac Bradley all took a turn on the mound. Combined the group gave up 13 hits and nine earned runs. Accumulating six strike outs, the three pitchers combined for just five walks.

Playing in two games once again on Saturday the Dinos battled back from a 9-0 deficit but ultimately fell short in a 18-13 shootout.

Using a steady flow of pitchers six different Dinos saw time on the mound as the hits and runs continued to pile up. No one pitcher stayed longer than two innings on the hill as the group gave up nine earned runs. As a team Carbon committed four errors in the third loss of the weekend tournament.

Fossat once again posted a team best three hits to go along with three RBI from the batter box. Josh Barlow and Cody Lowe both recorded two RBI and Jayden Flemmett knocked the team's first home run of the season.

Entering the finale win-less the Dinos jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over Box Elder, but the advantage slowly slipped away as Carbon dropped their fifth straight contest overall 9-8.

Box Elder's offense methodically chipped into the lead as they scored at least one run in the final six innings, including two runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth. Trailing 7-4 entering the seventh inning, Carbon scored four runs, but allowed Box Elder to score one to send the game into extra innings. Box Elder added the game winning run in the bottom of the eighth, sending Carbon to another heartbreaking defeat.

Cody Lowe, Mitch Olsen and Talon Abeyta all finished with two RBI and Anthony Maclean finished with one to pace the offense. Lowe had a brilliant outing at the plate, finishing with two triples and one double.

Now 0-5 on the season the Dinos will look to log their first victory when they return to the field on Wednesday to play host to the Union Cougars. Following Wednesday's non-league tilt, Carbon will meet the Emery Spartans on Friday, again at home.
