Anthony Maclean pitched four solid innings to lead the Carbon Dinos past the Union Cougars 13-1 in five innings for their first win of the season Wednesday afternoon at home.

Holding Union scoreless for the first three innings, Maclean received plenty of run support as the Dinos jumped out to an 11-0 lead entering the fourth inning. Giving up just three hits and one earned run, Maclean finished with eight strikeouts.

Jayden Flemmett, Mitch Olsen, Trey Richardson and Zac Bradley all finished with doubles as the Dinos logged 11 total hits. Cody Lowe, Olsen and Flemmett registered two RBI a piece and four others finished with one in Carbon's most complete game this season.

Now 1-5 on the season after a difficult five game stretch to open the campaign, the Dinos will look to carry the momentum built Wednesday into Friday's non-league tilt with rival Emery at home. The Spartans have a similar record, sitting 1-4 in their first five games.

Following Friday's game the Dinos will have just two more non-league contests before opening up Region 12 play on the road against the Canyon View Falcons on Tuesday, April 5.
