Utah State University-Eastern has signed their first softball players since announcing the addition of the program to the athletics department last year.
Head coach Brittani Richins announced the team has officially signed Kacie Allman, Cassidy Howe, Parker Fronk and McKayla King. The four girls will be apart of the first season, which will take place in the spring of 2017.
“They are a great group of girls that I found at two separate camps,” said Richins. “They are a great group of girls and I am way excited. We are hoping that we will be able to add a few more soon.”
Allman, a senior shortstop and outfielder for Provo High School, is currently batting .462 while leading the team in doubles with six. Allman has been stellar defensively gathering a fielding percentage of .846 throughout the early part of the season.
Howe, a senior shortstop and outfielder from Murray High School, is currently batting .455 with six RBI, three doubles and one home run. In seven games this season Howe has stolen two bases and accumulated a fielding percentage of .719 with two double-plays.
Both Fronk and King are from Tremonton, Utah. Neither Fronk nor King are playing high school softball, but have experience behind the plate at catcher. Fronk will also provide the Golden Eagles with an option in the outfield, while King is another option in the infield.
