The Emery Spartans suffered their fifth consecutive loss, this time falling 6-1 to the South Sevier Rams in a non-league affair Tuesday afternoon in Castle Dale.

Tied 1-1 at the end of the first inning, the Spartans allowed three runs in the fourth frame and two in the fifth leading to the eventual loss. Emery was held to just three hits for the game, compared to seven by the Rams.

Tel Gardner was charged with the defeat on the mound, pitching four innings for the Spartans. Dyson Heath recorded the win for the Rams, delivering a gem during the seven inning contest.

Despite the lack of offensive production on the scoreboard the Spartans had several opportunities to score on South Sevier. The offense left the bases loaded once, and runners on second and third on two separate occasions.

Now just 1-6 overall on the season Emery will take a full week off for spring break before returning to the diamond. Up next will be another non-league tilt, this time on the road against the Union Cougars on March 29.
