Sam Marrelli, Jr., age 78, peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father on April 13, 2016. He was born January 8, 1938 in Mohrland, Utah to Sam Sr. and Josephine Farlaino Marrelli.
After graduating Carbon High School, Sam served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956-1959. His career on the Rio Grande Railroad which spanned 43 years was one that he loved. He started working on the section laying rail, advanced to master machinist, and from there to general foreman. He loved the outdoors, be it “HUNTING,” camping, or farming.
He married his high school sweetheart, Gayle Bendall, on July 15, 1960. They had five children, and were later sealed in the Manti Temple in 1993. Sam and Gayle served as ordinance workers in the Manti Temple for over eight years.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle; sons, Sam Anthony, Brandon (Sarah); daughters, Belinda (Gary) Oliver, Brenda (Frank) Peczuh, and Nicole (Eric) Gammon; sister, Rosie; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lester, Joseph, Lawrence (Moose); sisters, Mary, Pauline, Josie T., and Margaret; and a great grandson, Daniel Jr.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Helper Stake Center (150 Ridgeway) with the viewing beginning at 12:30 p.m. He will be laid to rest at the Cliffview Cemetery in Price.
