Earning their first region wins of the season the Carbon Dinos won both games of a double-header with the Richfield Wildcats at home Tuesday afternoon.

Entering the double-header 0-3 following a three-game sweep at the hands of the Canyon View Falcons, the Dinos ended the first game scoring six unanswered runs for a 6-2 win. The second contest provided little offense as Carbon won a pitchers dual 1-0.

Cole Fossat recorded the win from the hill in the first game of the set in a complete game effort. Surrendering seven hits, Fossat struck out 13 of the 31 batters faced. Fossat also helped his own cause offensively finishing 1-3 at the plate with a double and RBI.

Both Chase Morgan and Anthony Maclean logged multiple hits for the Dinos as the offense scored runs in four consecutive innings to pull away from Richfield. Carbon managed to outhit Richfield by a slim 8-7 margin.

Mitch Olsen delivered one of the best pitching performances of his career in the second game of the double-header, striking out seven on his way to a shutout victory. Giving up just four hits in 6.2 innings, Olson walked only four batters.

Maclean recorded the games only RBI scoring Kameron Gunter to break a 0-0 tie in the third inning. Jayden Flemmett ended 2-3 at the plate with a double and a triple. Fossat also finished with multiple hits in three at bats, ending with a single and a double.

The two wins improve Carbon to 2-3 in Region 12 play and place them just one game behind the Wildcats for third. The two teams will wrap up the three game season series on Friday when they meet for the final time in Richfield.
