The Castle Valley Center is preparing for some very exciting spring activities such as their annual talent show, prom and graduation. Teachers Amy Nicholson and Krystal Richardson stopped by the KOAL 103.9 FM News room to give details about each of the events.

This week students have been busy practicing their talents for the annual talent show to be held on Thursday, April 21 at 12:30 pm. Student performances are done individually or as a group. Performances range from singing, dancing and even a comic performance is scheduled, it’s an opportunity for students to shine.

The annual school Prom is scheduled for Thursday, April 28 at 12:30 pm. “The student volunteers from Carbon come over and they actually participate in escorting our students through the promenade and it’s another opportunity for our students to create memories that last a life time,” said Nicholason. “The kiddos at the school, it’s full of prom attire and they get dressed up and it’s a pretty serious event but a lot of fun is had.”  The event would not be possible without the help from the students who volunteer from Carbon High School.

Graduation this year is schedule for Thursday, May 19 at 1:00 pm. This year Castle Valley Center has three graduates, Jace Marietti, Shane Robison and Tiffany Tonne. “We will also be having a graduation luncheon for the graduates and their families on May 18, that’s the day prior to graduation and this is a fun day, we have everybody come and mingle and share stories about their experience that they have had at the Castle Valley Center. It’s a really fun event for the families and all of the staff at the school,” Richardson said.

The Castle Valley Center has extended school year after graduation, as Richardson explains, “We offer days in the summer where we focus on retaining all of the skills they have worked so hard during the school year to learn and we also like to have a little fun too.” Students are offered 12 days of summer school which include field trips, fishing day and other fun activities for students to enjoy.
