Kinley Nelson delivered a dominating performance to lead the Carbon Lady Dinos to their fifth consecutive victory as they defeated North Sanpete 8-1 in Region 12 play Friday afternoon.

Pitching six quality innings, Nelson struck out four, allowed no earned runs or walks and gave up seven hits. Helping her own cause offensively, Nelson accumulated two RBI off of three hits, including a home run in the second inning.

Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the second inning, Carbon scored eight unanswered runs throughout the next three frames. As a team the Lady Dinos recorded 13 hits, including four extra base hits compared to just seven total for North Sanpete.

Alongside Nelson’s solo home run, Chandelle Nichols brought it in a run for the Lady Dinos in the second inning with a double. The two run second frame produced enough offense for Carbon to secure the win.

Taylor Passarella homered in the third inning and Makenna Pendergrass also went yard in the fourth to lift the Carbon offense. During the five game winning streak the Lady Dinos have outscored their opponents 35-14.

Now 4-1 in league play, the Dinos are tied for the most wins in the division with North Sanpete who is 4-2. Juab remains in first place, still unbeaten at 3-0. The Lady Dinos will return to the field on Tuesday as they travel to meet the Union Cougars in a non-region tilt, before traveling on the road to meet Canyon View on Friday.
