Unable to complete the season series sweep of the Richfield Wildcats, the Carbon Dinos suffered a lopsided 12-2 loss on the road Friday afternoon.

After taking the first two games of the three game set in Helper on Tuesday, the Dinos struggled to find offense throughout Friday’s contest. Trailing 8-0 in the top of the fourth Carbon scored their only two runs of the game to cut the lead to six. Richfield dominated the remainder of the game to cruise to a victory.

Senior Anthony Maclean was charged with the loss on the hill, giving up eight earned runs in 2.1 innings. Facing 17 batters, Maclean gave up 10 of the 18 hits the Wildcats recorded. Zac Bradley pitched the remainder of the game in a relief effort, giving up four earned runs and eight hits.

Cole Fossat notched two of the three hits the Dinos registered throughout the game. Finishing 2-2 at the plate, Fossat knocked two singles and scored one run. Maclean finished 1-3 at the plate and recorded the team’s lone extra base hit with a double.

Friday’s loss dips Carbon’s Region 12 record to 2-4 overall, which puts them in fourth place. Trailing Richfield by two games and Juab by three, the Dinos will travel on the road Tuesday to meet the North Sanpete Hawks in double-header action. North Sanpete is currently at the bottom of the standings, still in search of their first win.

Following Tuesday’s double-header the Dinos will return home on Friday to meet North Sanpete in the finale of the three game set.
