William Stirling Wilson, age 90, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in his home in Price.
Stirling was thirteen of fifteen children born to James and Kate Wilson in Sunnyside, Utah on December 19, 1925. He married the love of his life, Annie Krompel on February 2, 1946. They were married 70 years prior to her passing on January 18, 2016. They had two children, Annette and Kathy.
Stirling joined the United States Marine Corp on March 24, 1944. He was deployed to fight for his country in World War II where he was injured on Iwo Jima on February 20, 1945. Stirling was awarded a Purple Heart for his injuries received during combat. He is a lifetime member of the United States Marine Corps League, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Elks. Stirling was very honored to serve his country and was proud of being a Marine.
Stirling was a loving, hardworking man who always put his wife and family first. He was always able to fix anything that was broken and enjoyed being in his garage working on things. Stirling worked for the United States Postal Service for 35 years; he retired in 1990 so he could spend more time with his wife, daughters and grandchildren.
Stirling was very talented in story telling that when it came to determining fact or fiction you could never tell which was which. Stirling was a member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed going to church every Saturday night with his wife. His greatest pride was his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had many friends, comrades and relatives and will be missed by all.
Survived by his daughters, Annette (Bryant) Hanson, Jacksonville, FL; Kathy Pugliese, Price; 8 grandchildren, Tonya Hanson, Chris (Stephanie) Pugliese, Stephen (Jessica) Hanson, Jeff Pugliese, Angela (Nick) Leonard, Heather, Holly and Krissy Giacoletto; 8 great-grandchildren, Lizabeth, Izabelle, Olivia, MaKayla, Jeffrey, Macey, Sophie and Benny; brother Ed Wilson and sister Juanita Merrick.
Preceded in death by his loving wife, Annie; his parents; twelve siblings and son-in-law Ron Giacoletto.
Funeral Mass, Tuesday, June 7, 2016, 10:00 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service, Monday evening, 7:00 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at Mitchell’s Monday and Tuesday one hour prior to service. Committal, Cliffview Cemetery.
