Local mixed martial artist Cody Bunderson will meet David Nuzzo for the World Fighting Federation’s Bantamweight title on Saturday, August 27 in Chandler, Ariz.

Bunderson is a perfect 3-0 during his professional MMA career, winning two of his bouts by decision. Most recently he defeated Ryan Landis by submission in the first round in November. Nuzzo enters with a 4-1 record, winning his last three fights.

“He’s a dangerous opponent who has fought in the World Series of Fighting and that’s a show just below the UFC,” said Bunderson when talking about his next opponent. “The guy is dangerous, but I’m going to be ready and look forward to bringing home a belt to Carbon County.”

The World Fighting Federation was founded by two Arizona businessmen, Al Fuentes and Thom Ortiz. Multiple well known fighters such as Henry Cejudo and Roman Salazar, who are both competing in the UFC, fought under the WFF banner.

“It could be a huge thing, especially against a guy that has already held a victory in the World Series of Fighting,” Bunderson said. “If I could get that bantamweight title it could put me on the radar as possibly the best bantamweight in the country.”

While training for the upcoming bout in August, Bunderson will also be planning out the third card under the Fierce Fighting Championship promotion. Following a successful show on June 4, the promotion is excited to bring more MMA to Carbon County.

“We are going to be back on September 24 at the Fairgrounds Event Center again,” Bunderson said about Fierce Fighting Championship. “Everything went smooth during the last event and we had some awesome fights.”

Bunderson was a guest Monday on KOAL’s Drive Time Sports. During his time on the show he talked about his upcoming bout with Nuzzo and the next FFC card in September. Listen to the complete interview
