The Assumption Greek Orthodox Church’s annual Greek Festival will take place on Friday, July 8 and Saturday, July from 11:00 am to 11:30 pm at the church located at 61 South 200 East in Price. Guests are invited to come enjoy exquisite Greek cuisine, traditional dancing, booths, church tours, and many other activities for the entire family to enjoy.

“Eleven o’clock is when the serving lines begin and there are two serving lines to accommodate the people who want to go through the ale carte, course we will once again have our express platter to go or you just want to go through the ale carte line its ready there for you as well,” said Connie Hamilton, Committee Member. “The prices are exactly the same as they have been. So I think you know we are trying to accommodate things going on in our economy.” Guests can enjoy food items such as kourambiethes, finikia, baklava, koulouakia, Greek bread and much, much more.

The traditional dancers will be performing for guests on both days of the festival. “There are three groups of younger kids, The Opa group, there are three of them. Then also the Dainese group are the older dancers and they put on quite a show as well. They will be performing at 7:00 and 10:00 on Friday night and the younger dancers will begin performing at 12:00 throughout the day,” stated Hamilton. The older dancers will not be able to perform on Saturday due to a prior engagement in Salt Lake City.

Visits to the festival are not complete without taking part of the free tours of the beautiful church. Hamilton added, “We are very blessed to have Father Macario conduct those church tours. There will be three of them during the day on Friday and Saturday. So they will be announced during the festival and you can congregate on the steps and he will be glad to answer any questions and take you on a tour.”

The church is using the annual festival event to kick-off their 100th Anniversary celebration that will take place in August. There will be a booth set up at the festival on Friday and Saturday to let guests know what is planned for the anniversary gala and how guests can be a part of the joyous celebration.
