Castle Country Radio Stations held their Second Annual So You Think You Can Sync competition on Saturday, July 30 at 5:30 pm during Price City’s International Days and it brought groves of spectators out to the park to watch the event.
The competition had ten contestants and/or groups who performed in front of the panel of judges where they were judged in three categories: originality which consists of dance moves, costumes and props. Appearance, which is audience appeal, eye contact and rhythm; and finally, lip sync abilities.
Individuals and/or groups were given the opportunity to lip sync to their favorite song, plus to a song randomly chosen by Castle Country Radio; song selections ranged from Luke Bryan, Bee Gees, Def Leppard and Beyonce.
This year’s grand prize of $1,000.00 went to Dave Hocanson and Ben Jones. They entertained the audience with their song selection of a remix of Milli Vanilli songs. They then broke out various props such as catfish, a banjo and guitar for their second song, My Kind of Night by Luke Bryan. The duo participated last year and took second place.
Second place went to R’migos who consisted of Rhonda Birch, Carolyn Randall and Roxanne Jensen. The $500.00 winners lip synced to Down at the Twist and Shout by Mary Chapin Carpenter and finished off the competition with Raspberry Beret by Prince.
Randon Timothy who has a strong resemblance to country singer Luke Bryan took third place with his song selection of Kick the Dust Up by Luke Bryan. The $250.00 winner soften his second song up by putting on a prairie dress to sing Something Bad by Carrie Underwood and Maranda Lambert.
Castle Country Radio Stations, Mornings with Mallery and Jordan Buscarini were MCs for the evening and got audience members involved with impromptu lip syncing in between musical acts, emplyees of the radio station threw out lots of swag donated by sponsors of the competition.
