The Carbon County Fair has added two free events to this year’s lineup for children to come and enjoy this year. On Friday, August 12 there will be Bike Rodeo scheduled from 3:00 pm till 7:00 pm and on Saturday, August 13 from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm will be a Kids Character Experience.

Event Organizer, Ashley Yakovich gave more details about both events, “Friday at the Kids Day we will be doing a Bike Rodeo with the Boy Scouts of America and it will be for kids ages five to eleven and they’ll bring their bikes and their helmets and they’ll come have a lot of fun.” The Boy Scouts will also show participants how to do minor tune-ups to their bikes. A riding course will be set up and decorated along the lines of this year’s space theme. The course will give riders the opportunity to practice their coasting and weaving skills, as well as learning to use hand signals while operating their bikes. All participants will also receive instruction on basic bike safety.Kids character experence county fair 2016

“I contacted Sheriff Wood and we will do bike registration, so there is a form we are going to fill out, there’s a tag we’re going to put on bikes and then all the paperwork will be kept at the Sheriff’s office in case that bike goes missing anywhere in the county the officer can go to the Sheriff pull up the file, know exactly what they are looking for and hopefully retrieve the bike,” stated Yakovich. Prizes will be awarded throughout the event ranging from helmets, bicycles and accessories.

On Saturday from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm inside the Carbon County Events Center will be the Kids Character Experience which is open to kids of all ages. “We have princesses, we have super heroes, we have Star Wars characters and I just recently found out we are going to have Dr. Willow from Pokeman,” said Yakovich. Children are encouraged to dress up in their favorite character for the event but it is not required.

Several hands-on activities will be planned for the children to enjoy while they wait to get autographs and pictures taken with their favorite character. “They are going to be decorating sugar cookies, there’s going to be a wishing well, face painting, Super Hero obstacle course, snowball throw, Pokeman catch and nail painting, so it will be a lot of fun,” said Yakovich.
