Dustin and Michael Lofley claimed the 2016 Carbon County Fair Doubles Horseshoes Championship Saturday at the Carbon County Fairgrounds.

16 teams competed in the tournament, delivering a solid turnout despite the large selection of events with the fair. The tournament started at roughly 12:00 pm and lasted until 4:00 pm.

The team of Toney Vessels and Justin Prettyman finished in second place, while the Mead Brothers took home third. First, second and third place all received a combined cash payout of roughly $500.00.

The next horseshoes tournament will run alongside the Helper Arts Festival held on Saturday, Aug. 20. Registration will take place at 10:00 am and the tournament will begin at 11:00 am at Helper City Park. The cost to play is $20.00 per team. An awards presentation to be held at 6:00 pm at the Main Street stage.
