The United Way of Eastern Utah would like to invite community members to participate in their Annual Day of Caring on Saturday, September 10 beginning at 7:30 am till approximately 11:30 am. Individuals and/or groups will first meet at Lin’s Fresh Market at 760 West Price River Drive to enjoy a free breakfast before heading out to different locations in the area.

Carole Wright, Director spoke about the annual event, “This is one of our biggest events, this is our sixth annual one. This event started six years ago with approximately 100 volunteers and ten projects; and last year we had over 810 volunteers and 54 projects and we’re pretty much schedule for about the same.” Projects slated this year is the clean-up of Wood Hill and the shooting range, painting of the Dino Mine Park, assisting with miscellaneous jobs at the Boys and Girls Club, helping with the harvest at the Community Garden and several yard clean-ups at homes of the elderly.

“We need volunteers, we need people to come out, which they’ve always graciously done and come sign-up and help us out for just a couple of hours and we get a lot accomplished,” stated Wright. Individuals, companies, families, civic groups and sports teams may sign-up prior to the event by calling the United Way office at (435) 637-8911. Volunteers are asked to please wear appropriate clothing and shoes, bring work gloves and tools to help with the projects.

Once the projects are completed volunteers will be meet at Washington Park located at 150 East 450 North in Price for a free barbeque provided again by Lin’s Fresh Market.

The event would not be possible without the many sponsors as Wright mentions, “Of course Lin’s Fresh Market, the City Sanitation, Price City, the Road Department, Price Chapel’s men’s group, Community Cares, Peterson Chemical with garbage bags, Active Re-entry, Carbon Food Bank and Helper Stake is just huge in this. They joined us I believe four years ago and they do all the cooking and stuff.”

Day of Caring offers amazing “feel good” benefits for volunteers and is a countless opportunity to change the community.
