Earl Hazen “Smiley” Ford passed away on November 6, 2016 at the age of 85.
Earl was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 4, 1931 to Hans Otto Ford and Laura Sophia Hazen.
“Smiley” spent his whole life living in various towns in Utah, from Salt Lake City, Payson, Goshen, and Helper. Earl married Ruth Parks on September 24, 1951 and together they had 4 children. They later divorced in August of 1979. He then married Nonie Jean Erickson Jacobson and they later divorced in 1996. His third and final marriage was to Carleen C. Colledge on July 8, 1997.
Earl had a passion for gardening and loved to show off his crops. He enjoyed sharing with neighbors and friends. Earl was a very devoted friend and loved to help out as much as he possibly could. He was an avid College football fan and loved his UTES. He also followed the Utah Jazz very closely.
Everyone that knew Earl was fully aware of his convictions on politics and religion. He loved debating anyone who would sit down and listen.
Earl is survived by his wife, Carleen; sister, Claire; daughter, Elaine (Bruce) Jones; Sons, Howard (Brenda) Ford, Brent (Vicki) Ford, and Karl (Kari) Ford; step-daughter, Amanda (Pete) Kirkendall; step-son, Jared (Alesha) Colledge; 10 Grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; step-son, Zebulon Colledge; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Memorial service, Tuesday, November 15, 2016, 3:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Arrangements are entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price. Friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Earl online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
