The Carbon High Theatre Department presents Disney’s Beauty and The Beast on Wednesday, November 16 through the 19, with a final showing on Monday, November 21. Box office opens at 6:00 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm.
Mr. Steven Pay, Theatre Teacher spoke about the production, “We are really excited to put this one on. This particular show – it’s just an excitement, people love to come see Disney shows and we’re just hoping for huge audiences to come see the fun and spectacle that we are going to do.” Whether audience members have seen this production live or the animated version they will know what to expect as far as the entertaining storyline.
There are so many parts to this production, from actors playing the plates, spoons, clock and/or whisk – they all play an important part in the production. Pay added, “We were actually lucky enough to find the costumes from another theatre company in Salt Lake City and rent them. There’s no way you could remanufacture these costumes, especially the enchanted ones with the candle sticks, and Mrs. Pot’s teapot and all the many things that are out there.” Without the availability of the unique costumes the production would not have come together so easily.
This is one of the biggest production the theatre department has featured. They have just over 50 students participating in the show. “It’s a two-sided edge sword, it’s really fund to direct the kids and watch them grow into their rolls. This one has been really hectic only because of all the special effects and organizing all of the costumes, the sets and everything that we’ve had to rent and get trucked into Price for the show. So that has been the downside but it’s been overall a really great experience.” The students have been hard at work with rehearsals and are excited to put on a production for the entire community to enjoy.
The production will be held at the Carbon High School Auditorium. “Tickets are $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for children. We also have a family pass, where you can get a ticket for $20.00 for a family with up to six members. Show starts at 7:00 pm and you can buy your tickets at the door. I would suggest coming a little bit earlier than normal because I expect some huge crowds for this just because it is a Disney show,” said Pay. There will be some surprises during intermission that will require some interaction from audience members.
