The swimming season continued Tuesday for the Emery Spartans as they played host to the Turkey Invitational, welcoming Juan Diego, Richfield and Summit Academy to the Emery County Aquatic Center in Castle Dale.

Using depth for the majority of their points, the Lady Spartans fell just one point shy of first place Juan Diego, who scored 209 points during the meet. Richfield finished in third with 125 points, followed by Summit Academy with 31.

Juan Diego also claimed first place on the boys side of the pool as they accumulated 208 points. Emery finished in second with 173, topping Richfield by 13. Summit Academy again rounded out the field of four with 68 points.

Daryl Guymon continued his brilliant individual start to the season as he logged a first place finish in the 500 yard free. Guymon finished 56.19 seconds ahead of Richfield’s Canyon Douglas who ended in second. Guymon’s teammate Levi Olsen finished in a distant third.

The Lady Spartans earned their lone first place finish of the meet in the very next event in the 200 yard free relay. Kaelee Hooley, Erin Oliverson, BriAnne Bass and Katie Carter ended 3.5 seconds ahead of second place Juan Diego.
