The USU-Eastern Lady Eagles moved to 6-3 during the non-conference portion of the season as they split a two-game road trip Friday and Saturday in Salt Lake City.

Opening the weekend journey on Friday, the Lady Eagles were handed a 72-56 loss by No. 19 Casper. The women managed to bounce back the following day with a dominating 76-49 win over Williston.

Freshman Madison Loftus recorded a game-high 18 points and also pulled down five rebounds in the loss to Casper. USU-Eastern held a one-point lead going to the locker room for half time, but was outscored 39-22 in the final two quarters.

Mailee Richardson scored 10 points and Bryndie Ballam chipped in with eight off of the bench. The Lady Eagles struggled from the field converting just 37-percent of their attempts. Despite connecting on just one three-point shot, Casper finished 29-51 inside the perimeter.

Paula Orenes finished 8-13 from the field to lead Casper with 17 points off of the bench. Rojin Karahan notched 16 points and collected nine boards, while Ruth Nowokora scored 12 points and accumulated seven rebounds.

The Lady Eagles got off to a slow start the following day against Williston, holding a 36-31 lead at the break. The second half was completely one sided as USU-Eastern outscored their opponent 40-18.

Loftus once again posted a team best in points with 14. Ashlyn Coleman ended with 12 and both Ballam and Mailee Richardson ended with nine to help produce a balanced offensive output from the starting lineup.

USU-Eastern upped their shooting percentage as they finished with 40-percent from the field, compared to just 31-percent from Williston. Defensively the Lady Eagles flipped the script as they held Williston to just six points in the third period.

After starting the season 4-1 the Lady Eagles have now alternated wins their last four games. The women will now take a week off before returning to the court for their first home games of the season on Dec. 9 and 16 against the Utah All-Stars.
