The Carbon County Sheriff Deputies and other law enforcement were on hand during the Helper’s Christmas Festival to help direct traffic and to ensure public safety during the weekend’s festivities.
“Chief Anderson does a great job every year organizing his police force and just does a great job with making that event go off; the behind the scene stuff is unreal. Helper City decorates for weeks and weeks leading up to that, it’s a lot of work that goes into that for our community and I think it’s great,” stated Carbon County Sheriff Jeff Wood. Local law enforcement agencies look forward to the festival each year so that they may be out in the public in a more positive and relaxed atmosphere.
The Christmas holiday brings lots of parties to attend, whether it’s family or company gatherings. “Make sure you’re responsible with your holiday parties and have a designated driver if you are going to partake in the spirits,” said Wood. “Local law enforcement gets grant funded through the state for extra DUI shifts, they call them; and seat belt shifts, we have them both, all the local law enforcement agencies are doing them right now, this time of year. So, they will be out patrolling for those specific purposes.”
Carbon County has yet to have a real snow storm but the temperatures have been very balmy and chilly to say the least. Wood finished up with some sound advice, “With the cold comes the wind chill, and make sure your pets and your little kids that are waiting for the school busses are bundled up and your pets are in and have water, their water freezes in the winter – just a little tip.”
