The Carbon Dinos ended a three game losing streak by securing back-to-back wins over Stansbury and Grantsville Friday and Saturday, improving their overall record to 3-4 on the season.
Holding off a late Stansbury run, the Dinos managed to halt their three game losing skid with a 45-42 win Friday night at home. Carbon grabbed the win despite being outscored by eight points in the final two quarters.
Kyle Quinton delivered an outstanding performance for the Dinos as he finished with a team best 21 points and seven rebounds. Jamin Jensen chipped in with eight points, and Ty Moynier scored six. As a team the Dinos were held to just two makes from the perimeter.
Holding a 24-13 lead at half time following an 18 point second quarter, the Dinos struggled in the third scoring just six points. Still holding a comfortable double-digit lead, Carbon did just enough to hold off Stansbury in the fourth quarter to preserve the three point win.
The following day the Dinos traveled north to meet the Grantsville Cowboys in a non-region tilt. Despite a slow start in the first half, the Dinos rallied in the final two quarters to grab a 60-51 win on the road.
Jensen poured in a season best 25 points, including three makes from downtown to lead the Dinos. Quinton posted 10 points, while both Moynier and Gage Daugherty scored nine. Carbon connected on seven shots from long distance, compared to just five for the Cowboys.
The Dinos will look to build off of the momentum built in the two wins as they enter a very busy week that includes three games in four days. Up next the team will travel to Roosevelt to meet the Union Cougars on Wednesday. The team will then play two games in two days against Tooele and Emery on Friday and Saturday.
