The Emery Spartans continued the swimming season as they traveled on the road to compete against Carbon, American Leadership and North Sanpete Tuesday at the Desert Wave Pool in Price.
Finishing with 452 total team points the Emery boy’s team easily grabbed first place as they outscored second place Carbon by 115. North Sanpete ended in third with 108 points, and ALA finished last with 37 points.
Despite accumulating 396 points the Lady Spartans finished well behind Carbon’s 448 point performance. American Leadership ended in third with 114 points, and North Sanpete rounded out the field with 34.
Emery’s boys dominated throughout the lengthy meet winning 10 of the 11 events. The stellar performance included three team relay wins, and seven individual victories.
Daryl Guymon, Keldan Guymon, Garret Stilson and Nate Gilbert started the meet off with a bang as they claimed first place in the 200 yard medley with a time of 1:49.63. Stilson, Keldan Guymon, Allen Durrant and Deegan Minchey closed out the competition with another relay win, this time in the 400 yard. Guymon, Minchey, Gilbert and Johnathon Seely also won first place in the 200 yard relay.
Stilson added two more first place finishes to his meet total as he won both the 200 and 500 yard free. Daryl Guymon scored a first place finish in the 200 yard IM an, while Keldan Guymon finished first in the 100 yard fly. Seely delivered a first performance in the 100 yard free and Gilbert registered the seventh individual win in the 50 yard free.
While the Lady Spartans finished second overall they managed just one first place nod. Alexis Johnson, Brianne Bass, Erin Oliverson and Katie Carter finished the 200 yard free relay with a time of 1:58.19, topping second place Carbon’s time of 2:04.91.
Following Tuesday’s performance the Spartans will return to the pool on Friday and Saturday as they head to Tooele for an invitational two day meet. After Saturday’s competition, the team will head into Christmas break, returning on Jan. 4 against Richfield.
