The Carbon Dinos continued the swimming season with a first place finish on the girls side of the pool as they welcomed Emery, American Leadership and North Sanpete to Desert Wave Pool Tuesday afternoon.

Finishing with 448 total team points the Lady Dinos easily grabbed first place as they outscored second place Emery by 52. American Leadership ended in a distant third with 114 points, following by North Sanpete’s 34-point effort.

Despite accumulating 337 points the Carbon boy’s team finished well behind Emery’s 452 point performance. North Sanpete managed a third place nod with 108 points, followed by ALA with 37.

The Lady Dinos dominated throughout the meet winning nine of the 11 events. Two relay teams claimed first place nods, while seven individuals added wins to cushion the team’s advantage at the top of the leader-board.

The 200 yard medley relay team consisting of Megan Swasey, Sadie Crompton, Veronica Ibanez and Amanda Liu started the meet off with a win. The 400 yard free relay team made up of Swasey, Ibanez, Liu and Emily Jespersen managed to bookend the impressive outing in the last event with a first place finish.

Ibanez continued to deliver on an already successful season with wins in the 200 yard free and the 500 yard free. Liu took home two individual first place performances in the 50 and 100 yard free, while Crompton followed with wins in the 100 yard fly and breaststroke.

Swasey logged the Lady Dinos’ other first place individual finish as she topped teammate Kacee Barrett in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:44.45,

While the girl’s team dominated with first place finishes, the Carbon boys managed to accumulate points with mostly top five finishes. The lone first place nod came from Tyson Swasey in the 100 yard backstroke as he defeated Emery’s Deegan Minchey by nearly five seconds.

With the Christmas break right around the corner, the Carbon swim team will participate in one more meet Friday and Saturday as they travel to the Tooele Invitational. Returning to the pool in January, the team will have two more meets to prepare for the region competition on Jan. 28.
