Carbon County Sheriff Jeff Wood comes into Castle Country Radio Stations weekly to update the community on what his department has been up to. The segments have been very important to him as well as his department because they have always had the mindset of being transparent with their comings and goings with the public.
“We had a great year and I just want to say thanks to the community for all the support that we have for our local law enforcement. We feel blessed to have this level of support in this community and feel like we are light years ahead of most communities throughout the country,” said Wood. “The way the world is today, it’s comforting to know that law enforcement is appreciated and we get a lot of phone calls, cards and things from folks saying thank you, it really goes along way. You know our law enforcement officers are working all the time, while most of folks are going to be home for Christmas, law enforcement will be out on the streets doing their job just like a regular day.” Patrols will be making sure everyone is safe during the holidays and aiding with any emergency situations that may come up in the Castle Country area.
Wood gave a friendly reminder was pointed out to those that are traveling during the holiday, “Just be cautious in your travels, make sure you’re wearing your seatbelt and taking extra time to get to places it will pay off in great dividends in the long run and enjoy the season with family and friends.” Individuals shouldn’t let the temptation to drink and drive spoil theirs and/or others holiday, there is no positive spin to be put on drinking and driving any time of the year.
Local law enforcement agencies throughout Carbon have been working with various organizations to provide Christmas for several children and their families this year. This has allowed officers to socialize with the public in a positive manner. Wood added, “Every chance that I’ve had to speak with people this time of year, I always mention this is a good time for family and friends, enjoy that and set your goals for next year. I usually have three categories for goals: goals for community, goals for family and then of course goals for yourself. I think if you set goals it’s kind of fun throughout the year to see where you are at.”
From everyone at the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office Merry Christmas.
