The struggles from the field continued to plague the Carbon Dinos as they suffered their third consecutive defeat, this time falling to the North Sanpete Hawks 61-46 at home Friday night.

Kyle Quinton posted a team best 17 points, 15 of which came in the first half. As a team the Dinos converted just 16 field goals for the game, and scored only eight points in the third quarter as the Hawks evened the season series.

Trailing 31-25 at the break, the Dinos were outscored in the following two quarters in the eventual loss. As a team North Sanpete accumulated 12 steals which added to the offensive struggles for Carbon.

Spencer Steadman led the Hawks with 23 points and four assists. Kaleb Bailey contributed 12 points, and Brock Bailey finished with nine. As a team North Sanpete finished with four makes from deep and 23 field goals total.

Carbon loss coupled with a Juab win over Canyon View has shaken up the Region 12 division. After starting 2-0 in league play the Dinos appeared to be in the drivers seat for a division crown. The current standings now have Juab and Carbon tied with identical records for the league’s final playoff spot.

The Dinos will look to end their current three game skid when they return to the court on Wednesday in a road contest with the Richfield Wildcats. Wednesday will mark the second and final meeting between the two schools this season. The first contest ended in a one-point Richfield victory back on Jan. 18.
