The Emery Lady Spartans softball squad jumped the .500 barrier in 2A East region play with a 7-1 victory over the North Sevier Wolves Tuesday afternoon in Castle Dale.

Playing for the first time since spring break, the Lady Spartans scored in four of the six innings to grab the win. Holding a 4-1 lead entering the bottom of the fifth, Emery put the game out of reach by adding three more runs.

Bailey Huggard pitched seven full innings, striking out eight, while allowing four hits and one earned run. Huggard received plenty of support from her defense as they committed just two errors throughout the contest.

Morgann Donaldson lead the strong Emery offensive performance finishing 2-4 at the plate with three RBI. Ambree Bennett contributed three hits, while also scoring two runs. Madisyn Alton also recorded multiple bases, finishing with two singles in four at bats.

Tuesday’s win moves the Lady Spartans to 4-3 overall in region play with only four games remaining on the league slate. The two teams will meet for the second and final time of the season on Friday in Salina.
