The Helper City Library would like to invite the public to attend another Ask the Expert series which will focus on Cyanobacteria: Good-Bad Algae on Tuesday, April 25 at 6:00 pm inside the Helper City Library located at 19 South Main Street.

This free evening event will feature speaker Kristi Bear, Soil Scientist who will be discussing the major causes and consequences of eutrophication. Attendees will learn about methods that citizens, environmental agencies and scientists currently utilize to help minimize this world-wide problem.

Late last summer the Scofield Reservoir was closed to swimmers and boaters due to algal blooms. Algal blooms are not only a threat to those recreating in the area; they also negatively impact aquatic ecosystems and economies that rely on fisheries or other aquatic organisms.
