The Carbon Dinos were unable to protect their home turf in back-to-back losses to the Canyon View Falcons Tuesday afternoon in Helper.

Beginning a highly important three game set the Dinos suffered a heartbreaking 4-3 loss in the first game, followed by a 14-4 setback to end the evening. Two wins for Carbon would have clinched the Region 12 championship, while the two losses gives Canyon View the inside track with one week of action remaining.

Holding a slim 3-2 lead entering the seventh inning, the Dinos allowed two runs in the top of the frame in the eventual loss. The defeat brought an end to a lengthy five game region winning streak, dating back to April 11.

Zac Bradley pitched well from the starting role striking out four, while allowing two hits and two earned runs in 5.2 innings action. Jaxon Leonard was charged with the loss, giving up two hits and two earned runs in a relief effort.

Chase Morgan and Ty Anderson recorded two hits and one RBI a piece to lead a consistent Carbon offense. As a team the Dinos collected eight hits, two of which were for extra bases. Jadon Robertson also notched an RBI in a pinch hit situation in the sixth inning.

Despite a competitive contest through four innings, the Falcons managed to score nine runs over the final three innings to grab a 14-4 win in game two.

Trailing 3-0 entering the bottom half of the first inning, the Dinos scored two runs to trim the lead to one. Down 5-2 entering the fourth, Carbon again scored two runs, but was unable to get any closer as Canyon View pulled away down the stretch.

Cody Lowe was pegged with the loss on the hill as he allowed eight hits and five earned runs in five innings. Adrien Sanchez completed the final two frames as the Dinos slipped to 7-4 in league play.

For the second straight game Carbon collected eight hits, two of which went for extra bases. Kameron Gunter finished 1-3 at the plate and recorded a team best two RBI in the setback.

With only one game remaining on the region schedule, the Dinos are now in a battle with the Juab Wasps for the No. 2 seed out of the region. Carbon will wrap up the league slate on Friday with a trip to Cedar City for the third and final game.
