Hoping to carry the momentum from a first place- unbeaten season in region play, the Emery Lady Spartans will turn their focus to the season finale at Mountain View golf course in West Jordan Thursday for the 2A state championship.

The Lady Spartans will begin the tournament at 10:10 AM on hole No. 1 as Erin Oliverson tees off. The final group featuring an Emery golfer will tee-off on the same hole at 11:00.

Once again dominating the regular season, Emery will look to build off of last year’s second place finish at state. Last year all six Lady Spartans had scores that placed them in the top 25 individually. Taijah Price finished sixth, just ahead of teammate Sydney Guymon. Sarah Swasey and Erin Oliverson tied for 18th with two others.

This season Guymon’s consistent performance throughout the year was enough for her to wrap up first place overall in Region 15. Finishing with 256 points, Guymon topped teammate Price by just two points. Junior Lainee Jensen finished in fifth with 223, giving Emery three of the top five golfers in the region.
