Three Emery High School student-athletes have received Academic All-State honors for displaying excellence in the classroom, as well as on the field.
For the third time this season senior Ty Mecham will receive the award, as he joins nine others on the track and field team. Mecham, who has an outstanding season in the field events, was also selected to the Academic All-State teams for wrestling in the winter and football in the fall.
Logan Cox joins Mecham on the track and field Academic All-State squad. The award is the second for Cox during his senior campaign, the first coming in swimming this past winter. The track and field group combined for a cumulative 3.993 GPA.
Erin Oliverson joined four others who qualified for the All-State squad in golf. Combined the girls built an accumulative 3.932 GPA. Oliverson also received the award this past winter during her participation in swimming.
The Utah High School Activities Association in conjunction with the Deseret News present the Academic-All State award each year to students on the basis of their athletic ability and academic proficiency.
