More beautification plans continue in Helper with the upcoming construction of a Labyrinth path to be installed on the north side of the Helper Parkway on Saturday, June 10. Project organizers, Tera and Malarie Matsuda are in need of assistance from community members to help with the construction of the labyrinth path by assisting with the hauling and positioning of rocks needed to fill in the pattern they will have made the night before.

A labyrinth path is a meandering path, often unicursal, leading to a center and are an ancient archetype dating back 4,000 years or more. They were used symbolically as a walking meditation, choreographed dance or a site of rituals and ceremony among other things. The path are known to evoke sacred geometry, spiritual pilgrimage, religious practice, mindfulness, environmental art and the sense of community building.

The main thing needed to pull off the project is a couple more trucks to haul the rocks near the cemetery down to the construction site, as well as a few wheelbarrows to help move rocks so they can be arranged. Volunteers are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:00 am where further instructions and duties will be given. The location of the path is meadowy and will provide a majestic view of Balance Rock.

If volunteers have any questions about the project contact Matsuda Acupunture at 650-2302.
