Helper’s offense exploded for 11 runs in the final two innings in a 13-5 victory over Dixie Wednesday night in Southern Division play.
Jayden Flemmet led Helper in the box with three RBIs as he finished 2-4 at the plate. Taylon Abeyta, Jadon Robertson and Anthony Jones all recorded two RBIs. As a team Helper finished with 10 hits, which equaled the total from Dixie.
Taylon Abeyta recorded the win on the hill, pitching 4.1 innings of relief work. Entering the game down 3-2, Abeyta allowed just six hits and two earned runs during his time in the game. Zac Bradley allowed allowed four hits and three earned runs in two innings.
Wednesday’s win moves Helper to 3-0 in Southern Division play, and gives them victories over both St. George teams in the process. The loss for Dixie drops them to 4-4, which puts them in the middle of the nine team division.
Helper will remain in St. George for the rest of the weekend as the team will now participate in a non-league tournament that will also implement one league game. Following Thursday’s tournament opener, Friday’s game will be the second of the season against St. George, acting as both a league and tournament game.
The next home contest for Helper will take place on June 27 as the team will welcome Pleasant Grove in for double-header action. Pleasant Grove is currently in third place with a record of 3-1.
